"It's Homophobia That's Queer"
New community service annoucement from GALE and RTR-FM!
With the assistance of GALE's principal radio partner, RTR-FM 92.1, GALE is launching a broad community homophobia awareness campaign to start from mid-May and to coincide with International Day Against Homophobia! Here's the script of one of the community service announcements - the Alex radio spot.
Alex's 14, and a student and he really enjoys performing arts at school.
He's not into sports, some students think he's a bit gay.
Others think he's a [censor bleep], or a [censor bleep], or even a [censor bleep].
Because of this, Alex cops regular abuse from other kids, and it makes his life hell.
It doesn't matter that Alex's not gay. It's homophobia that's hurting him and others like him.
May 17 is International Day Against Homophobia.
You can help put an end to homophobia by talking about it with friends and family.
Because it's homophobia that's queer, not Alex.
