"It's Homophobia That's Queer"
New community service annoucement from GALE and RTR-FM!
With the assistance of GALE's principal radio partner, RTR-FM 92.1, GALE is launching a broad community homophobia awareness campaign to start from mid-May and to coincide with International Day Against Homophobia! Here's the script of one of the community service announcements - the Everybody Hurts radio spot.
It hurts thousands of people each year throughout our community.
It can lead to serious physical assaults, mental health issues, and even death.
And while it's aimed at gays and lesbians, straight people are hurt when it's used towards them too.
It's homophobia that's queer.
And it is a learned condition -- no-one is born a homophobe.
And it's only learned when people don't speak out against it.
May 17 is International Day Against Homophobia.
You can help put an end to homophobia by talking about it with friends and family.
